where can i get a shower thermostatic valve overhauled?
the unit is a Meyhill viscount.
is it meyhill? or meynell aka kohler mira
as said they can be serviced by a competent plumber.
also i agree not necesary to change it if it works ok or you like it. can be pretty expensive
may or may not need a service kit of seals etc, see when it comes apart if o-rings are split etc. old wax thermostats are very reliable often its just the mechanism that needs removing, cleaning and greasing, filters cleaned etc.
at £15 you will in no way get a meynell type shower and its almost certain you will have to make adjustments, maybe big maybe small, we have no way of knowing as it does not tell us. saying that it took you 2 mins is frankly irrelevant to this question.
i suggest phoning up kohler mira for the spares package cost, just in case its needed. you can then decide if its worth spending the money.
if the shower seems to have a 'significant' fault to you, price a direct replacement.
call plumbers to see if they are interested in servicing, some will want to sell you a new unit that they like fitting, need it or not.
servicing as i described should take about a hour assuming nothing is jammed/stuck/corroded in etc.
More than likely you will be required to replace the thermostatic unit

Hmmm………… its not worth doing it to be honest. For what you'll spend in labour & parts costs for refurb you'll be as well to just replace the valve xxxxxxxxxx

Service kits are available, and will be expensive, but nowhere near as expensive as replacement, especially if it is concealed.

doing it
Lidl's sell thermostatic shower valves for £15 that are identical to B&Q's that cost £185. Worth a look on their website. Takes two minutes to change.
My Lidl's valve has worked fine for 5 years

It could be cheaper buying a new unit, trying to repair the old unit could involve a lot of man-hours, considering that the water would have to be turned off to work at the valve.
Keep the old unit in a drawer for spare parts.
