ford racing valve covers an1.7rr crane?

has anyone had to remove the baffel where you pour the oil on the drivers side so the rockers will clear.,its a plate under the cover.
ok i installed gt-40 heads on my 302 and 1.7 crane roller rockers and i now here a loud rattling noise sounds like its coming from the front of the head on the drivers side i was wondering if the rockers wre hiting the covers but the noise sounds like its coming from the front of the head on the drivers side

did you torque down everything correctly? if so it sounds like a baffle issue, you will need taller valve covers. are you running fuel injection or a carburetor? if your car is efi then taller valve covers will do the trick you may want to consider if the pushrods are the correct length as well. good luck

My husband says …most of them have ribits, drill them out and then take the plate off. What specifically was you needing to know?
Take the cover off and check to see if it is hitting the cover. See if it has any marks or dents on it. You can remove it and do away with it. It can be ran with out it. (the plate that is) Hope this helped!

If removable take the plate out. Second option is to call Crane and ask if someone has valve covers that are taller to clear everything. It would if you could find some with pointed nubs inside pointing to the end of your valve keepers. The direct oil to the valve springs to keep them cooler.

Hi, I'm positive you have to remove the baffle.
    Roller rockers hit this plate.

    Regards.

you may need to check to make sure those rockers are tightened properly and make sure your push rods are not excessively worn. Also yes the rockers could be hitting your valve covers. That is allot of lift just take your covers off and check to see if there is any damage
