average cost of a combi boiler system?

I have been quoted £4500 for a combi boiler with 7 radiators and Thermostatic ValvValves for a 3 bed end terrace house. Is this about right? Seems a bit steep to me.

What would be the ballpark figure do you think? the radiatorsmay need news pipes, as they’re a little old.

to be done correctly tested commisioned flushed and notified sounds good to me , every house is different so comparing houses doesnt work , get 2 or 3 estimates then youll get a good feel weather your getting ripped off or not but i would say thats about rite for a new fit

can a EGR valve cause a car not start or shut off in drive?

should it try to start or just click?

An EGR stuck open can cause the engine to start hard, in other words, it will struggle to start, crank a long time and almost achieve a running speed, then stall. Also the engine would have a rough idle speed and maybe even not run at idle speed,. due to the valve venting most of the engine vacuum. It will not make the starter "just click".
Try holding your foot slightly down on the accelerator while starting, to give the engine a little more throttle, to increase engine speed for starting. If it starts, hold the RPM’s just high enough to keep it running then slowly release the accelerator, if it does not stay running at idle, suspect the EGR.
A properly working EGR will stall the engine at idle speed when vacuum is supplied to it. . If accessible you could also remove it and check it for a stuck condition, simply apply air pressure to the exhaust port and look, feel, listen for air escaping from the intake port. It should only open w/ vacuum applied to the actuator diaphragm.

My gas furnace won’t ignite?

I have a Honeywell gas furnace. Electrically, everything works fine. However, for some reason gas will not flow. It has a version of a Honeywell SmartValve (the schmatic says it is a SV9500 but it’s older, and the newer version online doesn’t look like mine–similar, but not exact). Is it possible that the valve is defective? Like I said, this is an older model. I’ve already replaced the blower motor successfully, though if it is the valve/ignitor assembly, I’m hesitant to mess with gas. I’ve checked the gas hot water heater and it has a lit pilot, so the gas is working. I’d love to replace the entire unit but the bucks aren’t there.

Through my experience as a HVAC tec Smart Valves aren’t always smart, ive replaced a lot of them. If everything is working "electrically" correct you should hear the gas valve at least "click" when it should start to be pumping gas. My only concern before condemning the gas valve is that its getting power from the board. Most likely its that valve.

Gas is definitely intimidating, and you should do your research if your questionable about the Smartvalve, key terms like "slow opening" or "standard opening" needs to be addressed too so u buy the right one. not sure where you live but with a service call and the repair your probably looking at around 500 bucks.
