When fitting Radiator thermostatic valves should the lock shield valves be fully opened or throttled as before?

The lock shields are used to balance the system,if the radiator heats fully with the valve partially closed then it will be fine,if the radiator is large and fed using micro bore pipe then open it fully.
The closer the rad is to the boiler and depending on the size will determine how far the valve is open to achieve the temperature difference between the flow and the return.Very rarely is this part of the job done but should be to improve efficiency.
Just open them all fully and try throttling them back one by one without compromising on the radiator temperature.

My compressor began to constantly blow air out a small port in the pressure valve. Any explanation?

If you are referring to an air compressor, then it's the safety valve. It is designed to "blow" at a preset pressure. If the valve is allowing air to purge prior to the tank reaching the desired pressure, then replace the valve. There are different pressure rated Valves. Make sure the correct on is installed.

CARBURETOR POPS— WHY PT 2?

i have rebulit a 1973 350 bored .040 and the crank is .010 with edelbrock 600cfm it has double hump chevy heads with 2.02 Valves when i give throttle real fast it pops through carb but idles fine any suggestions

THE HEADS ARE OFF OF A VETTE ENGINE OR IM TOLD THE CAM IS CRANE 254/254

Is the carburetor getting an adequate *strong accelerator pump shot when you jerk the throttle arm (cable) open? Perhaps the fuel pressure is too low or the float is too low in the float chamber. Is the needle and seat clean and clear? A carb. pop may be a lean condition. Possibly you may try fattening up the primary jets. If you have an open plenum 180 degree intake manifold they need lots of accelerator pump shot and somewhat bigger jetting. If you have a divided intake with a wall in the center more accelerator pump shot ain’t the answer. Neither is fatter larger jetting.

If you’re sure the ignition system is working properly: Weights, springs, vacuum advance canister, coil, wires, distributor cap, rotor etc go to the next step which can run into some work.

Are you sure the camshaft is degreed and timed properly? You didn’t say is this is a hydraulic or solid lifter cam. If it’s a hydraulic, back off the lifters till they start to clatter very slowly. Turn down the adjuster nuts just till the clatter goes away. Continue down 1/8 turn. Are all the valve springs in good shape - inners-dampeners and outers?

How do you know that a car has a valve adjustment problem and much does a Valve adjustment cost for 2000Celica?

The car is a 2000 Celica GT-S

The engine will have a steady tick, tick, tick noise at idle. Open your hood, and read the VECI map and vehicle spec map. If it lists the actual valve adjustment, then you should have it done. A car as new as yours, if it is double overhead cam, usually has hydraulic valve adjusters. This requires no physical adjustment. If there is a tick noise, it is due to internal engine sludge. You should swear off regular oils FOREVER!!! Especially the cheapo junk oils sold at most quicky lube joints. They always create sludge and damage engines over time. You can de-sludge your engine with butyl cello-solve. This special foaming cleaner will remove the offending deposits causing trouble in your lubrication system. You can drive the car on it gently for a day or so, and then drain the oil and use Mobil One or ELF oil. Change it once a year. Your engine will just LOVE you for it!!! Believe me.
